Vitamin C is one of the best-studied ingredients in skincare. Used every morning, a good vitamin C serum helps brighten a dull complexion, even out tone and support your skin against daily environmental stress such as pollution and UV.
The Obagi Professional-C range uses L-ascorbic acid, the most researched form of vitamin C, in three strengths. So which should you pick?
10%: the gentle start
Professional-C Serum 10% is ideal if you are new to vitamin C or your skin is easily irritated. You still get brightening benefits with less chance of tingling.
15%: the everyday favourite
Professional-C Serum 15% is the strength we recommend most often. It suits most skin types and is a good choice if you are working on dullness or uneven tone.
20%: for experienced users
Professional-C Serum 20% is the most concentrated option, for people who have used vitamin C before and want to step up.
How to use vitamin C
- Apply 4–5 drops in the morning to clean, dry skin.
- Follow with moisturiser and always finish with SPF: vitamin C and sunscreen work better together.
- A little tingling at first is normal. If it stings or turns red, drop to a lower strength.
- Keep the bottle closed and away from heat and light so the serum stays fresh.
Can I use vitamin C with retinol?
Yes, as long as you separate them: vitamin C in the morning, retinol in the evening. That is exactly how our anti-ageing routine is built.
