Yes. TORO's 785nm picosecond wavelength is specifically designed for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick Types III–VI). It penetrates deeper than traditional wavelengths while maintaining low melanin absorption at the surface, significantly reducing the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or overheating. TORO safely and effectively treats all six Fitzpatrick skin types.
Nanosecond pulses deliver energy over a slightly longer duration, making them ideal for the initial breakdown of dense pigment. Picosecond pulses are ultra-short, shattering pigment into finer particles with minimal heat transfer to surrounding tissue. TORO combines both modes in its Dual Pulse Protocol for superior clearance with fewer sessions and reduced risk of side effects.
The treatment is comfortable and non-invasive. Most patients describe a mild warmth or light tingling sensation during the session. There is no requirement for topical anaesthetic for the majority of treatments, and sessions are completed quickly with minimal discomfort.
Downtime is minimal. You may notice slight redness or mild warmth in the treated area immediately after your session, but this typically fades within a few hours. Most patients return to their normal routine the same day. We recommend avoiding direct sun exposure and active skincare ingredients for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment.
This depends on the condition being treated. Pigmented lesions may show significant improvement in a single session. Tattoo removal typically requires multiple sessions depending on ink colour, depth and density. Skin rejuvenation courses are usually three to six sessions. Dr Chi will give you a realistic treatment plan at your consultation.
Many patients notice an improvement in skin tone and texture after their first session. Collagen stimulation continues to develop over the following four to eight weeks, with progressive enhancement throughout your treatment course. Dr Chi will set realistic expectations at your consultation based on your specific condition and skin type.
