As we age, the face slowly loses volume and support. Cheeks can flatten, the jawline can soften and smile lines can deepen. Dermal fillers in Ipswich, at our doctor-led clinic, can help restore contour and balance.
Our aim is always a natural-looking result. Treatment is for adults aged 18 and over, and it always begins with a consultation.
What are dermal fillers?
The dermal fillers we use are gels made from hyaluronic acid. This substance is found naturally in the skin, where it helps hold moisture and keep skin plump.
Different fillers have different textures. For example, firmer gels lift and shape the cheeks and jawline, while softer gels suit delicate areas. Hyaluronic acid filler is gradually broken down by the body, and it can be dissolved if needed.
What can dermal fillers in Ipswich help with?
We offer filler for a range of areas:
- Cheeks – to restore volume and lift to the mid-face
- Chin and jaw – to improve definition, profile and balance
- Nasolabial lines – the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Tear trough – hollowness under the eyes that can make you look tired
- Lips – including Juvéderm ULTRA SMILE
We cover lips in detail in our lip filler guide. In addition, many people find that supporting the cheeks also softens lines elsewhere. You can see every area we treat on our injectables page.
How does it work?
Your practitioner places filler carefully beneath the skin. They use either a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula. The filler replaces lost volume or adds support where it is needed.
Because hyaluronic acid attracts water, the area can also look smoother and more hydrated. Most fillers also contain a local anaesthetic, so treatment is more comfortable.
Your dermal filler appointment
The consultation
Your first appointment for dermal fillers in Ipswich is a consultation (£30). We take your medical history and look at your face as a whole. Then we talk about what you would like to change.
A good result is about proportion, so we may suggest a different approach, or advise that less is more. You will leave with a personalised plan and a clear understanding of the risks.
The treatment
We cleanse the skin and may apply numbing cream. After that, we place filler in small amounts and check shape and symmetry as we go. Most people feel pressure and mild discomfort rather than sharp pain. The appointment usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the areas treated.
Your review
We usually see you again after about two weeks. By then swelling has settled, so we can judge your result properly.
Downtime and aftercare
You will see a difference straight away. However, there is usually some swelling, redness and tenderness, and bruising is possible. This typically settles over a few days, although the tear trough area can take a little longer.
Our usual aftercare advice:
- Avoid touching or pressing the area for the rest of the day
- Avoid make-up for 12 to 24 hours
- Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and steam rooms for 24 to 48 hours
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours to reduce bruising
- Avoid facials and dental work for around two weeks
Serious complications are rare, but they can happen with any filler. The most important is filler blocking a blood vessel, which needs urgent treatment. That is one reason to choose a medically trained practitioner. We explain the warning signs, such as increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, or any change in vision, and how to reach us straight away. The NHS guide to cosmetic procedures and the Save Face register also offer useful advice on choosing a practitioner.
How many sessions, and when will I see results?
Results are visible immediately and settle over a couple of weeks. Some people prefer to build volume over two appointments for the most natural look.
Filler is not permanent. Depending on the area, the product and your body, results typically last from around six months to over a year. Your practitioner will give you a realistic idea for your treatment.
Is it right for me?
We will usually advise you to wait, or suggest an alternative, if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have an infection, cold sore or skin problem in the area
- Have certain autoimmune conditions, or an allergy to filler ingredients or local anaesthetic
- Have a bleeding disorder, or take blood-thinning medicines (tell us, but never stop a prescribed medicine without medical advice)
- Have recently had dental work or a vaccination
Tear trough treatment is not suitable for everyone, so this area needs a careful assessment. If expression lines are your main concern, anti-wrinkle treatment may suit you better.

Frequently asked questions
Will it look obvious?
Our aim is a refreshed, balanced look. We work in small amounts and review your result, so it stays in proportion with your face.
Can filler be reversed?
Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved if needed. Read more in our guide to filler dissolving.
How much filler will I need?
It depends on your face and goals. Some people need 1ml, while others benefit from treating a few areas. We will advise at your consultation.
Does it hurt?
Most people find it manageable. Numbing cream and the anaesthetic in most fillers help keep you comfortable.
